Scales and Arpeggios – finding a solution to a notorious problem
A lecture and workshop presentation suitable for schools, colleges and educational music courses.
Our two step-by-step courses, Learn Your Scales and Arpegios for clarinet and for saxophone are vast, running to 523 pages, containing 85652 words, 173 exercises and countless other diagrams and illustrations, and can look rather daunting; so, we decided it was time to take the message to the people we believe need it most.
Author, Paul Copas has developed a presentation consisting of an informal lecture with slides, in which he explores the reasons behind the challenge of scales and arpeggios. He explains why it is so necessary to overcome this challenge and sets out our solution.
The event can be tailored to last between 45 minutes and an hour and provides opportunities for audience members to participate through playing and discussion. We can also offer additional coaching on specific areas of this discipline to individuals and small groups as a follow-up to the main presentation.
We do not try to conceal the fact that we have something to sell, but we make clear at the outset, that our primary aim is to get to the bottom of what can seem an intractable problem.
The e-brochure, which you can access here, provides an outline of the event content and is accompanied by video clips recorded live at a presentation delivered at Brentwood School in June, 2023.
